The Adams Time Chart, finally readable. A panel-by-panel reader's companion to Sebastian C. Adams' legendary 1881 Synchronological Chart of History — with a free Interactive Companion App that lets you explore the full 23-foot chart in color and search over 14,500 entries on any device. If you have ever stood before Adams' Chart and wished you could read every line, this is the book you have been waiting for. Why this book exists In 1871, Sebastian C. Adams published a chart unlike any other: twenty-three feet of continuous biblical and world history timeline, running from Creation in 4004 BC to his own decade. Widely praised by 19th-century academic and scientific journals, the Adams Synchronological Chart or Map of History has stood for 150 years as one of the most ambitious biblical world history timelines ever drawn. Then it became unreadable. Not because the scholarship aged — but because the text itself shrank. A document designed to be studied on a schoolroom wall cannot be read as a folded reproduction on a coffee table. The Stream of Time closes that gap. Ten chapters, one for each panel, walking you through Adams' cartographic method from the dawn of recorded time to the final decades of the nineteenth century — the book that finally explains what you are looking at when you unfold the Adams Time Chart. What you get with this book Ten illustrated chapters — one for each panel of the 1881 chart, from Creation in 4004 BC to 1878 Full Ussher chronology preserved — every biblical date as Adams recorded it Adams' classical sources contextualized — Ussher, Josephus, Rawlinson, and the historians Adams himself cites on the chart Bible genealogy traced visually — every patriarch from Adam to Christ, positioned exactly as Adams drew them on the chart's "Stream of Time" Free Interactive Companion App — explore the full 23-foot chart in color on any device, with over 13,000 searchable entries Classic reference format — printed on warm cream paper, 6×9, built for long study sessions Who this book is for You are a pastor preparing sermons or seminary student who wants Adams at your desk as a serious biblical timeline reference. You are a homeschool parent using Charlotte Mason, classical, or creation-based curricula. You teach in a Christian school building a biblical world history framework. You collect biblical reference works and you own the Adams wall chart, but you have never been able to read it. Or you simply love history, and you want to see what one of America's most ambitious historians did with twenty-three feet of paper and 6,000 years of time. The book the chart has been waiting for For 145 years, owners of the Adams Time Chart have admired the object without being able to consult the text. The Stream of Time is the first sustained reading of the chart since its publication — accessible enough for any adult reader, serious enough for the historian who wants the real treatment rather than a classroom exercise. If you already own a physical reproduction of the Adams Synchronological Chart, this is the companion that takes you into its depths. If you have never seen it before, this book will introduce you to one of the most ambitious visual histories of the world ever drawn — and the free Companion App will let you explore every inch of it from your phone, tablet, or computer. Whether you are studying biblical genealogy, teaching world history from a creation framework, or simply admiring one of the great wall charts of the nineteenth century, this companion belongs beside the chart itself. Heritage Chronology Press is an independent imprint devoted to bringing historically significant reference works back into readable form.
