Defy the dusk

"Lirien Flintspire, known as the Worldbreaker to most, is seeking redemption. Twenty years after an accidental explosion of her earth magic brought civilization to its knees, the remaining survivors of this great catastrophe live aboard high-speed railway rigs so that they can outrun the threats of their ravaged world. By night, monstrous creatures known as straxi rise from the earth to devour everything in their path. And by day, vicious feralist convoys prowl the highways, raiding and slaughtering those rigs too slow to escape them. When Lirien is kidnapped by Vox, the mercurial king of the feralists who seems to swing between wanting to use her powerful magic for his own ends or to kill her, the fate of humanity hangs in the balance. Because Lirien has a plan that has been two decades in the making-a plan that will see the world restored and her redemption earned. And she'll be damned if she lets the handsome, charismatic Vox get in her way. Yet with the battle to defy the dusk-and to defy her growing feelings-becoming ever more fraught, Lirien will have to decide where her trust lies. For Vox has a plan of his own: a plan that could save humanity . . . and break the Worldbreaker once and for all"-- Provided by publisher.
